Working closely with the community we gained an understanding how they used the park, with some local children saying they had never visited it, despite living nearby. We then worked with children, staff and families at the children’s hospice sitting at the edge of the park to create artwork that represented the children, the animals, and the environment in the park.
The artwork created by the children at the hospice was then combined with our illustration to create large banners which welcomed visitors to the park and highlighted to the community that it was there for them to use. They also encouraged ownership by the community, and awareness of the hospice, in the hope that some of the antisocial behaviours would be reduced.
The banners have been well received by the community and are displayed along the main road in Balloch that leads into the park.
